Free film noir
Noir is the American crime picture of the 1940s and 50s, and the ones that ended up free are rarely the famous ones. They are the second features: sixty-eight minutes, one good idea, shot at night because night is cheaper, carried by an actor who deserved better billing than they ever got.
Some of the best films on this whole site are here, and almost none of them were ever given the restoration the famous titles got. The prints show it. Where we have cleaned one up ourselves, the film’s page says exactly what was done and what it was done to.
