Comedy dates faster than anything else and then, past a certain distance, stops dating at all. The silent shorts here still work exactly as built, because a man falling down a flight of stairs was funny in 1922 for the same reason it is funny now.
The talkies are a mixed bag: program fillers, second features, and genuinely sharp pictures made by people whose names nobody kept. Some of it is very funny. Some of it is a historical document about what an audience was once willing to laugh at, which is worth watching for different reasons.
Everything plays in full, free, with no account and no subscription.
