A man kills a woman on a railway platform, puts her body on a departing train, and holes up in a boarding house in a town too small to hide in. There is a boy staying there who saw him do it. Charles Russell plays the killer, Mary Beth Hughes the woman who starts to like him, and it all runs a little over an hour.
It has nothing to do with Universal's Inner Sanctum pictures with Lon Chaney Jr. Both took the name from the same radio show. Three men formed a company called M.R.S. Pictures to make this one film, made it, and dissolved the company.
The framing device, Fritz Leiber as a psychic telling the story to a stranger on a train, pays off better than the budget had any right to.

This copy of Inner Sanctum was restored here, from a print that had been through a good deal before it reached us. The work finished on 2026-09-02. Every step is listed below, because a re-encode passed off as a restoration is worth nothing and the only way to tell them apart is to say what was done.
