Walter Paisley buses tables at a beat coffeehouse full of people who will not look at him, kills his landlady's cat by accident, covers it in clay, and is immediately acclaimed as a major new sculptor. He is not clever enough to stop there. Dick Miller spent a lifetime as everyone's favorite character actor, and this is the one that was actually his.
American International gave Corman fifty thousand dollars, five days, and leftover sets from another picture. Charles B. Griffith wrote the script in roughly the same five days.
Griffith's account is that Corman could not find the comedy until he was told to shoot it dead straight. He did, and that is why it lands.

This copy of A Bucket of Blood was restored here, from a print that had been through a good deal before it reached us. The work finished on 2026-09-25. Every step is listed below, because a re-encode passed off as a restoration is worth nothing and the only way to tell them apart is to say what was done.
- 164 described cues across a 65 minute 28 second runtime, filling 12 minutes 41 seconds of gaps between dialogue -- 19.4 percent of the film -- at 175 words per minute.
- Figures measured from the shipped sidecar and the shipped master.
- The original soundtrack was repaired from the Archive copy: rumble filtered below 60 Hz, the top end rolled off above 7 kHz, loudness matched in two passes. No picture restoration on this pass.
- Described track flagged default and visual_impaired, with the original audio kept as a separate selectable stream.
