The Ghost Train (1941): Arthur Askey, a shut branch line station and a phantom locomotive. Watch the British comedy thriller free online, no account needed.

Travelers are stranded overnight at a remote branch line station, the stationmaster tells them about the train that comes through with the dead aboard, and Arthur Askey talks. Constantly. He is either the best or the worst thing in it depending on your tolerance for him, and the last stretch is genuinely tense either way.

Arnold Ridley wrote the source play in 1923 after being stuck overnight at Mangotsfield station, listening to an express pass on a curve where he could hear it and never see it. Years later he was Private Godfrey in Dad's Army.

Walter Forde directed this and the 1931 version, which is a rarer trick than it sounds.
