The short version. There are no trackers, no analytics services and no advertising networks on this site. Nothing you do here is sold or shared. You do not need an account, and if you never give us an email address we have no way to identify you as a person at all.
What we store
Enough to give you back the library you built, and nothing beyond it.
- A session cookie. A random value in your browser that points at your library on our server. It carries no personal information and is not readable by anyone else's website.
- Your library. Films you rate, save, hide or start watching, and where you stopped in a series. This is the whole reason the site remembers anything.
- Your chosen look, so the site stays the color you picked.
- An email address, only if you give us one. It is used for exactly one thing: mailing you a link to sign back in on another device. We never send anything else to it, and there is nothing to unsubscribe from.
- A name for your library, if you set one. It is shown only to you.
What we do not store
- No passwords, ever. Signing in is a link in your inbox, so there is no password here to be stolen or reused.
- No payment details. Watching is free and there is nothing to buy. If you choose to fund a restoration, the card is entered on Stripe's own page and never touches this site — we are told that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the name and message you chose to put on it. We never see the card number.
- No contacts, photos, location, microphone or camera.
- No advertising identifiers, and no profile built for advertisers.
Our server logs
Like every web server, ours records requests: the page asked for, the time, and the network address it came from. These are kept for a short period to find faults and abuse. Sign-in tokens are stripped out of the log before it is written, so a copy of the log can never be used to enter anybody's library.
Other companies
Some titles play here. Others are held by services such as Tubi, Pluto TV, YouTube or the Internet Archive, and the site sends you to them to watch. Once you are there you are on their service and their privacy policy applies, not this one — we have no control over and no visibility into what they collect.
Film descriptions, posters and cast details come from The Movie Database. We fetch that from our own server, so your browser never contacts them and they never see your address.
Deleting it
Open your library in the site menu. Everything we hold about you can be removed from there. Clearing your browser's cookies for this site also detaches you from your library immediately.
If you gave us an email address and want it and everything attached to it erased, write to mike@tapeterritory.com and it will be done.
Children
This is a horror and cult film service and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not make changes quietly.
