Horror Express (1972): Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Telly Savalas on the Trans-Siberian with something very old in the baggage car. Watch it free.

Lee is an anthropologist shipping a frozen thing he dug out of Manchuria home to Europe by rail in 1906, and Cushing is the rival who wants the crate opened. What is inside is not a missing link, and the film keeps escalating long after most would stop. Telly Savalas turns up late as a Cossack officer and eats the picture.

It exists because of a train. Bernard Gordon had a good miniature and a carriage mock-up left from Pancho Villa and wanted to use them again, so a script was built around the set. Every scene in a car was shot before the walls were rebuilt into the next one.

Cushing reached Madrid soon after his wife died and told the producers he could not work. Lee talked him round.
