Creature from the Haunted Sea (1961), Roger Corman's gangster monster comedy, shot in Puerto Rico on the fumes of two other films. Watch the movie free.
Gangsters hide out on a Caribbean island, invent a sea monster to cover the murders they are committing, and then a real one turns up. It is a comedy on purpose, which throws people who arrive expecting a straight creature feature and instead get a secret agent narrating his own thoughts out loud.
Corman shot it in Puerto Rico back to back with two other pictures, same crew, same locations. Charles B. Griffith wrote it by recycling his own screenplay for the third time: it had already been Naked Paradise, then Beast from Haunted Cave, and here it is again with jokes.
The agent is played by Robert Towne, billed as Edward Wain. Thirteen years later he wrote Chinatown.
