A photographer takes a crew of models into an abandoned castle to shoot paperback covers, and the castle's owner decides he is the returned spirit of a long dead torturer. Massimo Pupillo shot it at Balsorano Castle and it is exactly as ripe as that sounds.
Mickey Hargitay plays the Crimson Executioner, oiled, in red tights, delivering speeches about the perfection of his own body. He was Mr. Universe in 1955 before he was an actor, and married to Jayne Mansfield at the time, and he said later that he was no more an accomplished actor than a taxi driver.
The American release claimed it was based on the writings of the Marquis de Sade. It is based on nothing of the kind.
